Day 1. Arrival Hanoi

Arrive at Hanoi airport where an English-speaking tour guide will welcome you and take you to your hotel in the center of Hanoi (20 miles – 45min).

Check into your hotel and relax.

Spend the night at the hotel.

Day 2. Visit Hanoi

Begin exploring Hanoi with a walk around the exquisite grounds of the old Indochinese governor’s palace (now a presidential palace).

Visit Tran Quoc Pagoda, the oldest pagoda in Hanoi and Vietnam’s pagoda for defense. After, whet your appetite for discovering Vietnam’s unique cultures at the Museum of Ethnology.

In the afternoon, visit the Temple of Literature. The temple, originally built in the 11th century, was dedicated to Confucius, the great Chinese philosopher. Not surprisingly, it has since become a symbol of Vietnamese culture and academic excellence.

Enjoy a “Water Puppet Show”, an art form unique to the locals of the Red River Delta.

Day 3. Hanoi – Nghia Lo

Depart from Hanoi at around 8am and head for Vietnam’s Great North. Cross the Central-Northern region, with its red hills covered with rolling corn and cassava fields.

Mid-afternoon, arrive in Nghia Lo to stay at the home of one of the local White Thai. His wooden house stands on stilts, leaning on a hill overlooking the majestic Muong Lo Valley

Walk or cycle around Nghia An and its surrounding villages to discover the lifestyle and daily activities of the locals.

Enjoy dinner with your White Thai host, who will be more than happy to share information about the history of his people and their present way of life.

Spend the night at the Thai house.

Day 4. Nghia Lo - Mu Cang Chai

Trek toward Pa Lau village, the home of a hundred Black Hmong families. This place, perched on the side of a hill, provides a home for a hundred Black Hmong families. In this area, people live together with their animals in a region surrounded by paddy fields, cornfields and cassava

Late afternoon, arrive in the small mountain village of Mu Cang Chai. Check into a city hotel or settle into a White Thai home stay. From here, enjoy a walk around the quaint village of Om Khom.

Upon arriving at Mu Cang Chai, check into a city hotel or settle into a White Thai home stay. From here, take a walk around the quaint village of Om Khom, surrounded by a mountain overlooking a huge field where the locals grow rice, corn, vegetables and sweet potatoes.

Day 5. Mu Cang Chai – Sapa

Drive to Sapa along a plain carved out by the Nam Na River. Cross the Hoang Lien Son channel where you can see the famous Mount Fan Si Pan at its highest point.

Arrive in Sapa, or “Cloud City.” Various ethnic minorities populate the region: Black Hmong, Red Dao and Zay.

Check into your hotel and enjoy lunch.

Spend the afternoon exploring the area such as the central market, Mount Ham Rong and the Muong Hoa Valley

Day 6. Sapa – Bac Ha

Wander around the Muong Hoa valley at the foot of Mount Phan Si Pan. Paddy fields adorn the mountainsides, presenting you with a sumptuous, velvet landscape. Visit Lao Cai and Ta Van , villages populated by Vietnamese, Zay and Black Hmong.

In the afternoon, drive to Bac Ha, land of the Flower Hmong. Stop at Bao Nhai and from here take a boat trip on the Chay River to visit the region of Trung Do and its ethnic minority villages that adorn the river banks

Arrive in Bac Ha at the end of the day.

Bac Ha is home to several ethnic minorities such as Hmong, Phu La, Tay and Dao. Thanks to lovely mountain villages, colorful weekly markets and rolling paddy fields, Bac Ha has grown to be a popular tourist destination.

Spend the night in a hotel.

Day 7. Bac Ha

In the morning, visit the market where many of the region’s inhabitants gather. .

All the markets take place on a weekly basis in Bac Ha. They are particularly attracting and colorful thanks to the traditional clothing of the Flower Hmong. A wide range of domestic and agricultural products can be found there such as buffalo, pigs, horses, chickens, tobacco, peppers, vegetables, medicinal plant and fabrics.

In the afternoon, enjoy a trek through Ban Pho villages, located at few miles from the hotel. These villages are nestled into a cosy valley with a fascinating landscape.

Day 8. Bac Ha – Ha Giang

After breakfast, drive to Ha Giang.

Travel 12 miles to Viet Quang, stopping to visit a village inhabited by Pa Then, a rare ethnic minority in Vietnam. Arrive around 3pm in Ban Me village, 3 miles from Ha Giang City. Ban Me is inhabited by the Tay ethnic minority. Settle into a traditional Tay home, a wooden house on stilts with a roof made of leaves.

Spend the night in the Tay home.

Day 9. Ha Giang – Dong Van

After breakfast, take the road to Dong Van, a small city located in the plateau. You may wish to make several stops to visit the villages and markets of ethnic minorities residing in the area. Next, continue the journey with a visit to Pho Bang village with thatched roof houses and to an old Hmong royal palace.

Spend the night at the hotel in Dong van.

Day 10. Dong Van – Bao Lac

After visiting Dong Van market, take the road to Bao Lac, the region which boasts the highest mountains in Cao Bang province.

On the way, enjoy spectacular mountainous landscapes visible from the small road which skirts the mountain slope.

Late afternoon, arrive in Bao Lac, check into your hotel and enjoy an excursion to Khuoi Khon, a village of the mysterious Black Lo Lo .

Return to the hotel at the end of the day.

Day 11. Bao Lac – Ba Be

After breakfast, drive to Ba Be, passing through Na Ban and Na Phac.

Arrive in Ba Be for lunch before taking a 30 minute boat to a remote Tay hamlet located on the shore of the lake. Meet your host family and enjoy a peaceful canoe tour of the lake.

Have dinner with the local host family and spend the night in a Tay home .

Day 12. Ba Be

Take a morning boat trip on Ba Be Lake or an optional 3 hour trek across the local primary jungle, followed by the boat tour

Spend a second night in the home stay.

Day 13. Ba Be – Hanoi

After breakfast, drive to Hanoi along a spectacular mountain road, passing the land of the Tay and the Mid-Northern region.

Arrive in Hanoi early in the afternoon. Enjoy free time exploring the city at your leisure

Day 14. Hanoi – Halong Bay

After breakfast, drive through the Red River Delta to the legendary Ha Long Bay. Board a luxury wooden junk boat for a 12:30 p.m. departure, cruising toward Bai Tu Long Bay (Daughter Bay) and across Ha Long Bay (Mother Bay), taking in the incredible vista. Enjoy lunch onboard, surrounded by unique and awe-inspiring scenery. By 2:30 p.m., arrive at the floating village of Vong Vieng.

Return to the junk for a traditional and sumptuous dinner.

Day 15. Halong Bay – Phu Lang Pottery Village – Hanoi

Enjoy breakfast onboard at 8 a.m. as the wooden junk boat glides back to the pier. During this pleasurable journey in the changing light of morning, take in the stunning views of the other side of the bay

Disembark at noon and take a drive back to Ha Noi. On the way, stop at the fascinating Phu Lang, a North Vietnamese pottery village built in an original, rustic arichitectural style.

Day 16. Hanoi Departure

Enjoy free time before transfer to the airport for your return flight home.

Step 2: Book a tour
If you agree on the proposed quote, you are kindly requested to send us the confirmation mail and we will proceed accordingly. It is our duty to reserve all the services related to your trip such as hotels, restaurants, domestic flights, toURIt guides and so on. We will contact you once again to make sure that the program fits your travel needs. Should you agree on it, a temporary contract will be issued as a written commitment between you and Amica.  Consequently, you are kindly requested to deposit 25 % of the trip’s total cost that can be paid by credit card, check or money order.

Tips:

Although tips are not compulsory in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, it is an etiquette to offer something for those such as your drivers or waiters for their services during the trip.

There are a variety of accommodation options in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. You can choose from an economic, unrated hotel to an exceptionally luxurious resort and those in between. For your convenience, it is recommended that you stay in a small, authentic, family-run hotel rather than big and crowded one.

Visa:

With a valid passport, 2 identity pictures and a fee of 10$, you can easily get an entry visa to Cambodia and Laos upon arrival. If you choose to stop in Vietnam, you must either get a visa from your home country prior to your departure or request an entry permit to obtain visa on arrival which costs 25 dollars. For the second option, we will provide all the necessary documents to help you obtain the visa on arrival.
